Cross Country teams from across the State of Ohio met at the storied Boardman Spartan Invitational this weekend. Under the constant, but never appearing threat of thundershowers, senior Palmer Cameron lead the Mineral Ridge Men’s team to a 12th Place finish among 41 Division III schools with his 28th Place, “Nike Top 50” finish.
This was the Rams’ second best Spartan Invitational team finish in school history.
Scoring as the top Orange and Black runners behind Palmer were: senior Jacob Colon (Seasonal Record by 14 seconds, Course Record), senior Caleb Toth (Seasonal Record by 50 seconds, Course Record), freshman Dylan Hvisc (#7 on the Freshmen Top 10 All-Time List, Personal Record by 1 minute 18 seconds) and junior Brennan Harris (Personal Record by 53 seconds).
Other noteworthy efforts at Boardman were freshman Bryant Garris (Personal Record by 56 second), senior James Fellows (Seasonal Record by 30 seconds), and freshman Michael Sheely (Personal Record by nearly 3 minutes).
These runners will be in action again this coming week at 4.30pm on Tuesday at the Canfield Fairgrounds for the Youngstown Area Cross Country Suburban League Championships, and then on Saturday at 10am at the Lordstown Village Park for the Lordstown Jean Smith Invitational where they hope to improve on their “Meet Runner-up” title from 2015.
