Mineral Ridge High School
Columbiana High School
It was a HOT evening for late September as the Mineral Ridge Rams travelled to Columbiana to face the Clippers. The Rams were looking to improve their 2017 record to 8-2 and started strong against the Clippers who tried to bunker in and strike on the long ball counter attack. The Rams enjoyed the majority of possession throughout the game but the Clippers held strong defensively, enduring a steady stream of shots that resulting in the Rams scoring 3 goals. Juniors Anthony Testa and Garret Smith each had a goal to give the Rams a 2-0 lead at halftime. Smith would score again in the 2nd to put the Rams up 3-0. The Clippers would find a goal late to keep the Rams from securing the shutout. Freshman Gabe Heinrich would score the Clippers lone goal.
